How Different Types of Dental Implants Replace Missing Teeth

Which Type of Dental Implants Are Best in Manakin-sabot Area

Are you looking for a permanent solution for your missing teeth? If so, you have come to the right place. Dental implants from Goochland Dentistry are the next best thing to your natural teeth. These teeth replacements are surgically inserted in the jawbone, offering a permanent, solid, and life-looking solution to tooth loss, regardless of whether you have lost one or multiple teeth. Drs. Peter Murchie and Rachele Gillespie offer several dental implant options to restore your smile.

Types of dental implants

If you have lost your teeth and want a permanent solution, your first step is to schedule a consultation with our office. We understand every patient is unique, and a one-size-fits-all solution may not work for everyone. The following types of dental implants are customized to meet various needs.

Endosteal implants

These are the common types of dental implants. Endosteal or osseous dental implants involve placing a titanium or zirconia artificial root in the jawbone, providing a solid and body-safe foundation for your replacement teeth.

Once the implant is placed in the jawbone, your dentist enhances it by attaching a small metal connector known as an abutment. This prosthetic device protrudes through the gum line to connect the implant to the final restoration. Candidates for endosteal implants must have sufficient jawbone density to support the osseointegration process.

Subperiosteal Implants

Subperiosteal implants are attached to the lower jaw and are below the gingiva. They are used in patients who are unable to undergo bone augmentation procedures because they lack enough bone density or height for endosteal implants.

Before and After Results of Our Patients

Combination of Invisalign®, Implants, and Bridge
  • Smile improvement with the use of Invisalign®, replacing a broken bridge, and replacing missing teeth with dental implants.
  • Mr. J told us “I have a bridge that was done many years ago from an accident, and I am missing some back teeth. I want to fix my smile”.
  • After our discussion we decided to correct crowding that was affecting his bite, and during Invisalign® we placed dental implants to replace missing teeth. At the completion of Invisalign® we whitened his teeth and replaced a bridge on his upper front teeth using layered zirconia.

Mini implants

As their name suggests, mini dental implants (MDIs) are a smaller, less invasive version of traditional dental implants. Mini implants are ideal for patients with insufficient jawbones or who don’t want the more invasive surgery of traditional implants.

A mini implant is nearly half the diameter of a conventional implant—about the size of a toothpick. This results in a less invasive procedure requiring less jawbone than traditional implants.

Instead of adhesives and suction, mini implants are a great way to support your denture or bridge. They are more secure and comfortable and allow you to use your teeth naturally when eating, smiling, and talking.
